Introducing Opus Chamber Philharmonic

Updated: Feb 7

Reflections on an evolving artistic platform

Since its founding in 2015, Opus Chamber Philharmonic has developed into an international artistic platform working across orchestra, opera, chamber music, and cross‑disciplinary collaborations. Based in Oslo and connected to a broad network of musicians and cultural partners across Europe, the ensemble brings together classical tradition and contemporary artistic vision.

Our work is defined by flexibility.

We shape each production according to its artistic needs — whether it is a symphonic project, a chamber opera through our operatic branch OPERA OPUS, or a collaborative performance created with international artists and institutions. This adaptability allows us to explore a wide range of repertoire and formats, from intimate chamber settings to larger scenic and symphonic productions.

At the center of the ensemble’s artistic direction is conductor Vegard Nilsen, whose work spans opera, symphonic repertoire, and interdisciplinary projects. His approach emphasizes clarity, collaboration, and expressive musical storytelling, shaping the identity and long‑term development of the ensemble.

As Opus Chamber Philharmonic continues to grow, we remain committed to creating productions that combine artistic excellence with openness, curiosity, and a modern approach to classical performance. Our new website offers an overview of our artistic identity, upcoming projects, and future collaborations — and serves as a platform for sharing insights, reflections, and behind‑the‑scenes perspectives.

We look forward to welcoming audiences, partners, and collaborators into our artistic universe as new projects unfold.
