Perspectives from inside Opus Chamber Philharmonic
Since 2015, Opus Chamber Philharmonic has developed into a flexible artistic platform working across orchestra, opera, chamber music, and interdisciplinary projects. What began as a chamber‑based initiative in Oslo has grown into an ensemble with a distinctly international orientation, shaped by collaborations with musicians, singers, directors, and cultural institutions across Europe.
Our artistic identity is built on versatility.

Each production is shaped by its own artistic framework — whether it is a symphonic program, a chamber opera through OPERA OPUS, or a collaborative project that brings together different artistic disciplines. This flexibility allows us to explore a wide range of repertoire and formats, and to create performances that reflect both tradition and contemporary artistic thinking.
The ensemble is led by conductor Vegard Nilsen, whose work spans opera, symphonic repertoire, and cross‑disciplinary collaborations. His artistic approach emphasizes clarity, expressiveness, and a collaborative rehearsal culture, shaping the long‑term development of the ensemble and its artistic direction.
Our international network is central to our work.
Through partnerships and co‑productions across Europe, we engage in artistic exchanges that broaden our perspective and enrich the cultural environments we work within. These collaborations allow us to create productions that bring together diverse artistic voices and experiences.
With the launch of our new website, we look forward to sharing more from our artistic journey — including insights into upcoming productions, reflections from rehearsals, and perspectives from our work across orchestra, opera, and international collaboration.
As new projects take shape, our commitment remains constant: to create artistic experiences defined by precision, openness, and a modern approach to classical performance.
